ANGELS OF WAR
On the "Angels of War" movie, I worked in three roles. As Art Director, I was responsible for the authenticity of all elements connected to the World War II period. As a Matte Paint Artist, I developed effective solutions for complex scenes using 2.5D projections and matte painting, while ensuring seamless set extensions. As a Concept Artist, I created atmospheric concepts for key scenes. I delivered work across all three areas on time and to the required quality.
Chasm and iceboats: Created 3 matte-painted chasm-jumping shots with camera projections, plus sketches, a full-frame matte painting, and projection for iceboats disappearing into fog.
Environments: Created complete cityscape and 3 environment shots using matte painting and camera projection.
PBR decals and ice-floe extension: Tested and produced 3D decals; also created a director-approved ice-floe concept and a streamlined, convincing set extension for a lot of shots.
Historical tram: Researched WWII-era tram poles and cathedral camouflage, modelled the pole, and painted the domes for a 6 shot sequence.
Sky replacements: Extended the original clouds for camera movement and replaced the sky in more than 25 shots.
